Gary Allen Miller, 44, received maximum prison sentences of 40 years for forcible rape and a concurrent 10 years for felony carnal knowledge after entering his plea in the case on Sept. 6 in front of state Judge William J. \u201cRusty\u201d Knight,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20110118192916\/http:\/\/topics.nola.com\/tag\/st.%20tammany%20courts\/index.html\">St. Tammany Parish court<\/a>\u00a0records show.<\/p><div id=\"asset-11587144\">STPSOGary Allen Miller<\/div><p>St. Tammany District Attorney Walter Reed\u2019s office said Miller became acquainted with the girls through a friend of a friend. The Times-Picayune does not name victims of sexual abuse.<\/p><p>From September 2009 to August 2010, he had a sexual relationship with the older girl, who was born in 1995. Through her, he met her younger friend, born in 1998, and he sexually abused her from February 2010 to July 2010, according to the state.<\/p><p>The mother of the girl born in 1998 then discovered a sexually explicit photo Miller had sent to her daughter. She called the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20151002232759\/http:\/\/topics.nola.com\/tag\/st.%20tammany%20parish%20sheriff's%20office\/index.html\">St. Tammany Parish Sheriff\u2019s Office<\/a>, who arrested Miller on Aug. 18, 2010.<\/p><p>A grand jury subsequently indicted Miller with aggravated rape of the younger girl because she was under the age of 13 as well as with carnal knowledge of the older one, who was not yet 17 and could not lawfully consent. An aggravated rape conviction at trial for Miller would have carried a mandatory life sentence, but he admitted to the lesser violation of forcible rape while declaring himself guilty as charged on the carnal knowledge count.<\/p><p>Assistant District Attorney Ken Dohre prosecuted Miller, who was represented by Michael Capdeboscq of the St. Tammany Public Defender\u2019s Office.
